A late 18th century French iron framed lantern clock with white faience dial. Original white tin glaze Faience dial with nicely shaped black numerals. Original brass repousse fret above the dial.Very nice pair of original brass hands. Very well made quality iron framed movement. Crisply made and well cut wheel trains in really excellent condition.
Countwheel striking sounding the hours and the half hours (single stroke). Original weight pulley with forged iron stirrup and wooden pulley wheel. At the top of the images below I have included A short video to give you an idea of how the strike mechanism runs.
Please allow the video to load before playing it through. The movement is in good sound but oily and dirty condion.
Very little wear to the pinions and the escapement pallets. The wheel trains run smoothly when pressure is applied to them.The escapement functions correctly with very little'drop. No pendulum, drive weight or bell. Overall height of movement to top of repousee fret 36.5 cm (14 3/8). Dial diameter 24.5 cm (9 5/8). Overall movement depth front to back tip of hands stud to tip backcock 20.3 cm (8). Plates 11.4 cm /(4 1/2 ") deep x 15.9 cm (6 1/4") wide. Internal height between plates 16.2 cm (6 3/8).
Note; The dial will be removed from the movement and boxed separately before being packed with the movement. Packed weight 6.8 kg. 60 x 40 x 37 cm.
