A rare genuine authentic original antique copper kettle and lid with brass dovetail seam and acorn finial. Dating reliably to 1800's (19thC), evidenced by the makers mark on the bottom " j j ".
Made by JJ Bent & Co. Charlotte Road, Stirchley, Birmingham, approaching 200 years old. Weighing a substantial 1.393 kg.
It is in good condition except for one small visible dent near the spout and a few dents on the top, plus one on the lid. No signs of any repairs. Kettle has been wiped but not shined up, maintaining its original patina. Usable capacity: 2.5 pints, 1400 ml, 50 fl oz.
The spout sticks out about 3.5. Rear edge to end of spout 11. If this beautiful antique kettle is to be used domestically, it needs testing for lead solder first, then it will need a thorough descale and cleaning inside.
