Antique 19thC Porcelain Old Paris Scene Scenic Plate Porcelaine Assiette Vieux
A really nice plate made by one of the Paris region makers in the mid 19th century. I bought five matching plates all with different named scenes on them that make for a superb set if you like. This plate is nicely hand painted with a large scene in the center of a street view with a river in the center, buildings and a few people walking around. Some nice greenery in the scene as well and a couple going for a stroll. The rim has a nice gold trim to it which is still in superb shape and not worn as is so often the case on Paris porcelain from this period. The scene is named underneath Vue de la Tour de Cesar a Geneve so a Swiss view here instead of the more usual French one : The plate is in great condition with very minimal wear and displays perfectly! The piece is unmarked but that is typical of Paris porcelain from this time! There are three stilt marks underneath from where firing supports were ground away. It is 1 inch tall and 9.125 inches in diameter. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces like Limoges, Schoelcher and so on.
