Marvelous and rare to find antique 19thc French wool and cotton fringed table rug. An intricate kilim inspired pattern from the 1870's when inspiration in French textiles came from kilim rugs of this nature. The lovely warm red and brown pattern is also a popular palette from that period when madders were used frequently. Dense and beautifully woven example of it's period and larger than I have found in the past. You will find it to be somewhere between jacquard fabric and a rug is best I can describe it.Measures 54" x 58" without it's fringe. It is in overall very good condition for it's age. A bit of wear to the wool which is inherent of early wool. Beautiful displayed on a table, hung, the end or center of a bed or back of chair, also wonderful day bed type cover etc..
I sell antique and vintage fabric. Each textile is different; some possibly used, some unused. I will give you my best assessment. I do not always launder them nor do I know all their history, how they have been stored over time etc.. I have a 30+ year long & extensive knowledge of textiles and gauge age ranges; fiber content etc..
To the best of my ability. As always please view all photos, dimensions etc..
