Antique 19thC French Bayeux Porcelain Figural Spice Dish Porcelaine France #2. This product data sheet is originally written in English. A superb figural spice dish made by Bayeux during the Langlois period around 1830. These comes in different version and none are easy to find. They are all really neat and are heavily influenced by Asian designs. Bayeux made some superb porcelain during this period and I really like their style and it is unlike any other European porcelain. The spice dish here has an Asian elder sitting in the center with a row of three spice containers to either side rising up from the ground base to almost as high as the gentleman for the back containers. The entire piece is heavily decorated in a Chinoiserie style with thick raised enamels meant to imitate Chinese decorations but with a distinctive French influence. Each pot has a different design to it and there are even fake Chinese characters to the top left pot. Typical base with some leaves to the front. The figure in the center is nicely modeled and hand painted superbly. A bit of gold trim to the top edges of the containers.

A superb piece that looks amazing on display! The piece is in good condition with a touch of wear and there is a very good restoration to the base on either side and a spot in the back as well.

Very well done and the piece displays perfectly. The dish is not marked but that is normal and it is unquestionably by Bayeux from this period! It is 5.5 inches tall, 6.75 inches wide and 4.5 inches deep. Marchand d'épices Gewuerzschale 19th century figurine figure Figur.
