A great cup made by St-Cloud during the first quarter of the 18th century. It is made of a creamy colored soft paste with an under glaze blue decoration that is quite nice. Softpaste porcelain has a charm to it unlike any other porcelain! This is a cup with a handle unlike some of the other pieces I have owned that were handleless. The cup has a ribbed design to the paste in a section below the blue decoration.
The piece is in great condition with just a divot to the top edge which is from the making and glazed and the blue design follows the dent. There is also a thin sliver chip to the outside rim as shown which is super thin and a bit of blue color would hide it perfectly.
The cup is marked with an under glaze blue cross or plus sign as shown. The cup is 2.625 inches tall and 2.75 inches in diameter.
It is a really good match to some of the saucers I have if anyone would like a nice cup and saucer set! If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces like Chantilly, Bow and so on. Photos are part of the description. Please do not send me questions on items other than my own!
