Antique 18thC Sceaux Softpaste Porcelain Lidded Pot Porzellan Dose French France

  
A rare a pot a fard or pommade (for makeup or ointment) made by Sceaux in the 18th century. It is a very early piece for this rare maker. The piece is made of soft paste porcelain and is hand painted with three single flowers along the main body with the lid having a floral arrangement to one side and two more single flowers to the other. Nice fruit and leaf finial to the top. The lid edge and bottom top edge have a pink trim to them.

A bit of a relief line design to the paste. One rarely sees pieces by this maker and I have not owned one of the early anchor marked pieces before so it was nice to find it. I often wonder how so many different makers chose the anchor as their mark.

The lidded pot is in great condition with the usual manufacturing flaws associated with these early wares. Some light pink spots along the bottom edges and a few very minor chips to the underside lid foot. The bottom piece is marked with the incised anchor mark as shown. The pot with the lid in place measures 3.125 inches tall and 2.625 inches in diameter.
