A great figurine of a carpenter I believe made by Niderviller around 1790. A nice size figurine that is modeled perfectly and hand painted to make this one elegant and fun piece! The gentleman is dressed in some nice clothes with an apron to the front and a hat on his head while leaning on his ax that he used to shape a piece of wood. Some tools by his feet on a square base with some greenery on it.
The figure is in great condition on side of the ax chipped which had previously been restored so it needs a bit of help again but displays nicely either way. There is a small chip to the back of his hat as shown. It is a marked piece which is not that common having the interlaced CC mark in black on the underside. The figure is 7.625 inches tall and the base is 2.875 inches square. Niderville France 18th century statuette.
