Antique 18thC Niderviller Biscuit Porcelain Girl Figurine Porzellan Figur Figure. This product data sheet is originally written in English. A superb figurine of a young lady / girl made by Niderviller around 1800. This is the type of figurine they are famous for - the white biscuit, very detailed, fun pieces.
This one here is very typical in terms of modeling, the face and base are text book Niderviller! Unglazed pieces are much harder to find than their painted pieces especially in great condition! The figure is of a young lady holding a basket full of grapes under her right arm with a bunch of grapes in her left hand all while standing on a rocky base that is so typical for this maker!
Superbly modeled and left unglazed in order to show off all that detail in the paste! The piece is extremely solid being made of one solid piece of porcelain with no air holes - something quite typical of Niderviller. The figurine is in superb condition with the only flaw being that the very tip of the grape stem in her left hand might be broken off. Some minor manufacturing flaws typical to biscuit pieces but she is as nice as they come! The piece is not marked but that is really normal for this maker as they rarely marked their pieces which I never really understood. The figurine is 5.625 inches tall and the base has a diameter of 2.25 inches.
