A cup and saucer made by Locre aka Rue de la Fontaine-au-Roi aka La Courtille in the late 18th century. It is unusually heavily gilded but it looks superb in combination with the sepia colored scenes! The cup and saucer are each hand painted with a nice landscape scene in brown tones with solid gilding all around with the rest of the pieces having this very detailed trim including oak leaves and acorns with nicely tooled details to them. Typical handle shape that is fully gilded as well.
It's a really nice set of a very nice quality! The set is in great condition with just some minimal wear to the gilding.
A big brown firing spot to the underside rim of the saucer. A rare survivor as the gilding is often heavily worn on Paris region pieces. Each piece is marked with their under glaze blue arrow type mark as shown. The cup is 2.5 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter.
The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces like Vieux Paris, Sevres and so on.
