A really nice flower pot made by La Courtille / Locre aka Rue de la Fontaine-au-Roi in the late 18th century. The piece is hand painted superbly with two grisaille scenes of a cherub sitting on a cloud doing different things.
Each scene is surrounded by a garland of roses that go all around the pot. The top part has a fancy design of floral garlands as well as gold design garlands being held up by birds and a face type design. Hard to describe so have a look at the pics. A bit of gold trim to the top rim and bottom edge and each side has a handle highlighted with gilding. A really nice looking piece! It is in great condition with a minor touch of wear. A scratch to the bottom of one of the scenes and a stair hairline crack to the bottom that is stable.
That has stained over the years and is visible from both the inside and more so from the under side. Stable and does not affect the piece when on display at all. The jardiniere measures 6.875 inches tall and 8 inches in diameter with the handles sticking out from there a bit.A really nice sized piece! It is marked with the under glaze blue crossed arrow mark as shown. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces like KPM, Sevres and so on.
