1 of a number of antique 19th Century GRAND TOUR souvenir plaster mouldings of medals that the Victorian English 19th Century era aristocrats bought whilst on their holidays in Italy - Europe. It was a common practice for them to make their own whilst on route but the European Museums soon found a very good market in reproducing the Classic Roman & Greek seal intaglios from archaeological digs etc. As well as mouldings from gold - silver - bronze medals of the era too. The Grand Tourists collected their plaster mouldings in huge collectors cabinets which usually held hundreds of mouldings, or had them framed up for wall furnishings. All are very interesting antiques and people collect these now as much as they did during the Grand Tour period.
