The publisher's embossed stamp/seal appears upper right just above the title. The Map was published in the, Atlas universel de geographie physique, politique, ancienne & moderne. With additional text from the title page that continues, Contenant les cartes generales et particulières de Toutes Les Parties du Monde: Rédigé conformément aux progrés de la science Pour Servir à l'intelligence de L'Histoire, de la Géographie et des Voyages.

The Map is on a medium-heavier weight cream-colored wove paper stock and is in VeryGood-Excellent Rare+ condition for its antique age with no color fade. The sheet size with wide margins is 21" x 25-11/16". There are a few outer edge tears and very minimal outer margin edge paper loss along a few edges and corners which are all completely negligible since the outer margins can easily be matted & framed out, and the tears have been repaired with archival tape for protection- the tears & paper loss are as follows ; About a 2" tear to center fold (top middle) which does not extend into map image area (archival tape extends beyond the tear for strength); About 2-1/8" tear on bottom center fold which also does not extend to image area (archival tape also extends beyond the tear for strength); Four 1/4" tears on top outer margin edge middle near the center fold and 5/16" tear near them on left; Tiny corner pieces (tips) missing from three outer margin corners; Slight paper-loss (chipping) along edge in the bottom left outer margin corner about 1-3/4" long by 1/8" (tapering to missing corner piece); Tiny triangle chip/flake paper-loss left outer margin edge lower-left.

The rest of the center fold is fine. Extremely minimal & very slight faint foxing specks here & there on the sheet. Slight moisture stains along bottom edge.

Normal toning of the stock from age and a little more so around the outer margin edges. Slight small crescent-creasing here & there on the sheet, as well as a few other light creases here & there and along some outer margin areas, edges and corners-all outer margin issues are completely negligible and easily matted & framed out. Slight outer margin edge wear with some other dents & dings here & there-also negligible. This beautiful antique mid 19th C.

Map would make a wonderful addition to any cartography or art collection, and has never been framed which is always more desirable to collectors since it has never been exposed to older non-archival materials, matburn or lightfade. 9:30-5:30 EST SUMMER HOURS: Tues-Fri, 9:30-4, Sats. We have unfortunately been on the receiving end of poorly-packed artwork and we wouldn't wish that on our worst enemies.
